The studio

Chernihiv, since 2018.

What is known about KropyvaArtStudio comes from the shop itself: the listings, the announcement, and eight years of reviews.

The practice

Iryna Hryshchenko weaves in Chernihiv, in northern Ukraine. The shop opened on Etsy in 2018 and has sent 368 orders since; it holds a 5.0 rating from 155 reviews and carries Etsy's Star Seller mark. Every piece is made by hand, one at a time, from Czech Preciosa seed beads.

The range

The catalogue is currently around two hundred pieces: sylianka collars and gerdan chokers make up most of it, alongside earrings, bracelets, and a smaller body of needle-felted creatures in natural wool — dragons, goblins, forest spirits, cats. Some designs follow historical patterns closely; others keep the structure and change the colours entirely.

Working through the war

The shop announcement puts it in one line: despite the war in her country, delivery is possible worldwide. In-stock pieces ship within a few days; made-to-order work takes about a week. The work has not stopped.

The name

Kropyva is the Ukrainian word for nettle.

Every claim on this page comes from the public KropyvaArtStudio Etsy shop, read on 12 September 2026. Nothing has been added.
